Ephesos

Ephesos (lat. Ephesus, griech. Ἔφεσος, türk. Efes, hethitisk Apaša) waas in dät Oalerdum ne groote Ioniske Hoawen- un Honnelsstääd an ju Wäästkuste fon Littik-Asien, däälich in ju turske Provinz Izmir, juunuur dät Oailound Samos.

Ephesos is dät wichtichste archäologiske Gestrich fon ju Turkäi. Uursproangelk (uum 1100 f.Chr.) waas dät ne Gruppe ienheemske Siedlengen, do der liegen uum dät Hillichdum tou fon ju groote asiatiske Fruchtboarhaidsgoddin, naamd Artemis fon Ephesos. Ephesos is däälich bekoand as dät grootste Fräiluchtmuseum fon dät Roomske Riek ap e Waareld.

Dät griechiske Tiedoaler

Leeter siedelden sik deer Griechen an, foarallen Ionier, do ju lokoale Goddin glieksätten mäd hiere oaine Goddin Artemis. As hieren Anfierder wäd Androclus ärwäänd, die uk as Gruunder fon Ephesos jält. Ephesos unnergeen dätsälge as aal do ioniske Stääde. Ätter ju Äroberenge in 560 f.Ch. truch Köönich Croesus fon Lydien wuud Ephesos truch Synoikismus tou een Stääd touhoopeföiged. In dät Jier 550 f.Chr. wäd ounfangd mäd dän Bau fon dän eerste Tempel fon Artemis in Ephesos, die der 436 f.Chr. kloorstoald wäd. Unner persiske Ferwaltenge noom Ephesos 499 f.Chr. Ätter dän Köönichsfree fon 387 f.Chr. Koom ju Stääd wier unner Persien.

In dät Jier 356 f.Chr. wuud die eerste Tempel fon Artemis fernäild (ätter ju Legende ap dän Gebuurtsdai fon Alexander die Groote), wierätter mäd dän Bau fon dän twäide Tempel ounfangd wuud. Foarallen ätter Alexander dän Groote wuuks ju Stääd uut tou een fon do wichtichste fon dän Hellenismus, wiertou gjucht holp, dät deer die näie groote Tempel fon ju “Ephesiske Artemis” stuude, die der 323 f.Chr. kloorstoald wuude un die der goolt as een fon do Soogen Waareldwunnere. Dissen Tempel mätte 105 bie 50 Meter, mäd 127 Ioniske Suulen fon 18 Meter hooch. Die Diadochen-Köönich Lysimachus ferlaide ju Stääd un die Hoawen, moakede hier tou sien Ferwaltengszentrum un naamde hier ätter sien Wieuwmoanske Arsinoeia. Do Bewoonere fon Colophon wuuden uum 298 f.Chr. ätter Ephesos uurbroacht, wiertruch ju Ienwoonertaal tounoom bit 100.000.

Ephesos waas ouwikseljen Besit fon do Ptolemäe un do Seleukide. Bie dän Ferdraach fon Apamea koom Ephesos 187 f.Chr. an do Attalide, do Härskere fon Pergamon, un ätter 133 f.Chr. an dät Roomske Riek.

Ju roomske Tied un ätters

Ephesos hied ne Blöitetied unner dät Roomske Riek. Ju Stääd is foarallen bekoand fon two Biebelbouke: die Bräif fon Paulus an do Ephesere un ju Apostelgeskichte fon Lukas. Gans bekoand is ju Stääd uk weegen dät Konzil fon Ephesos, touhooperuupen fon Kaiser Theodosius III weegen ju Striedfroage uur ju Leere fon Nestorius.

Ju Stääd bleeuw eerste uk noch Zentrum fon ju Fereerenge fon Artemis, man 262 wuud die groote Tempel fernäild un gans uutroowed fon do Goten. Ephesos koom in Ferfaal ätter dät do Turke ju Stääd 1420 iennoomen. Aantje fääre fint me noch do Uurblieuwsele uut ju turske Tied in Selçuk, wier ju leet-seldschukiske Isa Bey-Moschee stoant un ap n Höäwel deerbuppe ne byzantisk-seldschukiske Zitadelle. In ju Zitadelle stoant ju Johannessäärke, wier dät Grääf fon dän Apostel Johannes lääse skäl. Ap dän Höäwel Aladag, an ju uur Kaante fon Ephesos, stoant dät Huus fon Maria (tursk: “Meryemana”), wät fuunen wuude ap Anreegenge fon do Visione fon Anna Katharina Emmerich. Deer kon me uk ju Hööle fon do soogen Släipere bekiekje.

Ne ferlätte Stääd

In leeter Tiede fersoundede die Hoawen un koom ju Stääd in dät Binnenlound tou lääsen. Deertruch kuud ju hiere wirtskaftelke Loage nit behoolde un wuud ju Stääd ap Eende ferlät. Fielicht deertruch rakt et deer noch fuul oolde Bauräste. Deeruum is ju nu ne wichtige Bestimmenge foar Touriste, deeruum dät me deer n gouden Iendruk kriege kon fon wo ne Stääd in ju Blöitetied fon dät roomske Riek uutsaach. You have to visit if you're coming to Turkey. It's the most amazing reconstructed historical ruins I've ever seen. Efes was the Asian capital of the Greco-Roman empire. Only ~1hr from Izmir airport.

Huge archaeological site, definately a must-see. It gets very crowded during high season and when cruise ships dock at the pier. It gets hot, visit it early morning. Now entrance costs 30 TL
